Drawing update, 6/28/15

Haven't updated in bit, but I'm still drawing and am currenty working on yet another illustration for "TIWIB". Toddler faces are tricky!

Finally getting around to cross-posting...
Fanart inspired by Beautifufic’s masterful story ‘The Gilded Cage.’
'Are you all right?'
John blinked, realising his friend wasn’t as engrossed in the report in front of him as he’d assumed. ‘I missed you,’ John said, wincing at his inadvertent honesty. ‘I woke up and didn’t know where you’d gone.’
—Ch. 19 of ‘The Gilded Cage' by BeautifulFiction

EDIT: The advantage of having an artist for a mother: constrictive critism. The disadvantage of having an artist for a mother, you can't unsee mistakes once they've been pointed out. Image was revised to address the issue of the jawline.

“Look John. What is that?” He stares at the long supple naked line wriggling in the earth.
“That’s an earth-worm, Sherlock.”

I wore a hole in the paper of the top image drawing, erasing and re-drawing the eyes. Trying again with the bottom image, (which involved an adventure and a half to find my lightbox table from where it was stashed in the attic!). Cross-posted to Tumblr.

My youngest sister had a birthday this week. She moved several hundred miles away and out of state this year, so we had to mail her gift. Considering in the past she’s been the recipient of home-made a dead armadillo birthday cake (a la ‘Steel Magnolias’), a wrapped gift disguised as giant chicken (complete with feathers!), and quirky birthday surprises, just mailing a gift seemed boring.
Fortunately, I have access to office supplies… (also know has ‘my coworkers have learned to be careful about investigating when I’m chortling at my desk.’)
*Update: Just got a phone call from the delighted recipient. The actual gift is appreciated, but she is definitely keeping the ninja-star impaled, tentacle-encompassed, dinosaur/werewolf/alien/killer-rabbit containing, ominously ticking/whirring/beeping box of doom.
